Tempo & Consistency

Repeatable rhythm beats brute force for driving control

The Concept

Erratic tempo = erratic face control. Rushed backswings create disconnection; violent transitions throw off sequence. Smooth tempo keeps club on plane and face square longer.

Tour average backswing-to-downswing ratio ~3:1. You don't need perfect timing, just consistent timing.

Signs You Need Tempo Work

The Drill

Count & Pause Drill

During backswing: Silently count "1...2...3" until the club reaches the top. Transition: Say "Go" as you start down — not before.

Do: 10 balls with counting, 5 normal. Compare strike pattern & dispersion.

Variation: Add slight deliberate pause at the top for feel (1 range session only) then remove pause but keep rhythm.

TL;DR

Smooth, consistent rhythm unlocks center-face strikes. Make tempo a measurable habit.
