Landing Spot Focus
Land it where you intend—roll becomes a calculation not a guess.
The Concept
Looking only at the hole creates distance anxiety. Pick a landing patch (3–6 inches wide). Your brain manages force more precisely toward a nearer reference point.
Hole location affects where that patch sits—short, inline, or a few feet onto a tier.
Choosing the Spot
- Flat & predictable surface
- Uphill = land a touch shorter
- Downhill = land earlier for slower roll onset
- Avoid shiny wet patches—skid alters spin
The Drill
Coin Landing Exercise
Place 5 coins: At varying distances (6ft, 10ft, 15ft, 20ft). Chip 3 balls to each, trying to land exactly on coin then roll out naturally.
Record: How many direct hits (or within 1 inch). Improve precision before chasing hole proximity.
Progression: Replace coins with chalk spots for less visual help.
Track in ClearCut
- Better first putt distances
- Short Game SG trends upward through fewer over/under roll errors
- Confidence selecting landing zones speeds pre-shot routine
TL;DR
Pick a small landing spot—execute to it, not the hole. Control grows.
