Trajectory Control
High when soft, lower when windy—choose flight for proximity.
The Concept
Controlling height manages rollout and curve. A lower flight penetrates wind; a higher flight stops quicker. You don't need tour-level shotmaking—just two reliable windows.
Baseline = stock. Variation = small setup tweaks (ball position, finish height) not swing overhaul.
Two Reliable Flights
- Stock: Neutral ball middle, full finish, medium height
- Lower: Ball slightly back, grip down 1/2", abbreviated chest-high finish
- Higher: Ball slightly forward, full extension finish, smooth tempo
The Drill
9 Ball Flight Ladder
Hit 3 groups of 3: Stock / Lower / Higher using an 8‑iron.
- Note carry vs rollout
- Commit to tempo (no hitting hard for height)
- Observe curvature differences
Goal: Distances within 6–8 yds, trajectories visually distinct.
Track in ClearCut
- Use lower flight on windy holes—monitor resulting proximity
- Higher flight into soft greens—first putt distance improves
- SG:Approach gains from situational use, not constant forcing
TL;DR
Learn one lower and one higher version of your stock. Deploy based on wind & firmness.
