Green Reading
Low-side view + pace focus simplifies break decisions.
The Concept
Reading from the wrong vantage creates guesswork. The low side shows true slope depth. High side distorts perception.
Combine overall tilt + entry speed mental model; ignore micro-wiggles.
Process
- Walk midpoint line—feel foot pressure
- Read from low side—crouch behind ball
- Pick start line relative to cup (inside / edge / outside)
- Commit to pace first, then line
The Drill
Two View Comparison
On practice green: Pick a 15ft breaking putt. Read from high side, write predicted start line. Then read properly from low side.
Hit: Roll 5 putts using low-side read only.
Goal: Observe difference. Train trust in low-side perspective.
Track in ClearCut
- First putt distances shrink (fewer overreads)
- SG:Putting gains from fewer big misses wide
- Confidence increases on multi-tier surfaces
TL;DR
Read from the low side, decide pace, then set line. Simplicity improves execution.
